Film and TV production company MRP Matila Röhr Productions Oy has filed for bankruptcy, and the company will discontinue its operations.
The sale and distribution of the company’s films have faced significant challenges in recent years. Structural changes in the cinema sector and the weakening of both the domestic and international film markets have particularly affected the financial performance of the company’s key productions.
The company has sought to adapt its operations to the changing operating environment and to develop its production and distribution models to respond to market conditions. Despite these measures, the company’s financial situation did not develop on a sustainable basis.
The vitality of Finnish cinema is largely based on the domestic audience, which is why going to cinemas and watching domestic films is essential for the continuity of the industry.
