In Juha Rosma’s directed drama “Who is Joe Louis?” (1992), co-written with Cezary Harasimowicz, Joni Hurme (Ilkka Heiskanen) is knocked out in a boxing match. Seven years later, he returns to the gym to compete under the guidance of his old coach (Vesa-Matti Loiri). However, Joni finds it difficult to focus on sports as he misses his former girlfriend Ewa (Anna Majcher), who is planning to get married in Poland. Ewa also longs for Joni and their son Simppa (Jani Suihkonen), who is being raised in Finland by Joni’s sister Sirka (Pirkko Hämäläinen) and her husband Arskan (Eero Saarinen).
