Return to Plainlands

The film is based on Antti Tuuri’s Lakeuden kutsu Finlandia Award-winning novel. After years, Erkki Hakala (Kari Väänänen) returns to Ostrobothnia from Florida to take back what belongs to him: his place in the community and his wife Kaisu (Mari Rantasila). But the task is not easy. Difficulties are brought to Erkki by suspicious relatives, a sleazy business partner (Martti Suosalo), an old teacher (Tapio Hämäläinen) who is trying to trick him, as well as the Partanen brothers (Vesa Vierikko and Samuli Edelmann) who sell the workshop.
