JULIA MANNERLA (Krista Kosonen) is a top lawyer handling environmental matters. The career has overtaken the marriage and the mind is weighed down by a bad conscience about the missed vacations with the child. Now Julia has been given the task of saving a remote village, which is being drowned under the reservoir of the power plant. That village happens to be his family’s old home. Julia goes on a trip with her 9-year-old son NIKO (Viljami Nojonen). The former teacher ELIAS (Peter Franzén), who rents the only lodging in the village, tells Julia about an ancient folk tale. According to the legend, a water spirit lives in the lake, which centuries ago had to be appeased in cruel ways. In a remote village, Julia’s childhood memories start to come back to her mind as strange and scary. When traces of the water spirit start to be heard and seen in the house, the mythical tale seems to turn into reality. Julia has to face the truth, which is scarier than she would have ever dared to think.
