The action film The Way to a Woman’s Heart, directed by Pekka Parika and written with Jussi Kylätasku, is based on Ilkka Kylävaara’s novel. Pentti ‘Pena’ Anttila, a freelance journalist for the afternoon newspaper, ends up being treated at Hesperia Mental Hospital when his journalist partner Siru Donner (played by Satu Silvo) gets tired of his drinking. After being freed, Pena meets Tutteli (Merja Larivaara) in the hospital cafeteria, who tells her that she knows too many things and finding out which prompts Pena to investigate the Järvensuu mafia with the help of mental hospital nurse Kauko Kinnusen (Peter Franzé).
