]]> Never alone – the film tells the story of Abraham Stiller, the helper of eight Jewish refugees handed over from Finland to Germany. The fictional film is written by Klaus Härö and Jimmy Karlsson, and is loosely based on the biography Uncle Stiller written by Rony Smolar.

The film is produced by Ilkka Matila of Matila Röhr Productions and distributed by Nordisk Film. Never Alone is a large-scale co-production of five countries, which, in addition to Finland, includes Sweden, Estonia, Austria and Germany.

]]> Tapiola Sinfonietta will perform in a concert with the vocal ensemble Tuuletar. Tapiola Sinfonietta and the a cappella vocal ensemble Tuuletar will perform the music of the film “The Story of the Fell” in a concert where the movie will be shown to the audience on a large screen at the same time as its music is played live. The award-winning film composer Panu Aaltio’s film music will be heard in the concert as a premiere performed by a classical orchestra. Aaltio has also composed new material for the concert. Based on Antti Tuuri’s idea of fells as sleeping giants. The film was directed by Marko Röhr.

The concert will take place on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, at 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM at the Espoo Cultural Center in Tapiola. The film concert is part of Tapiola Sinfonietta’s Nature Festival, which takes place from November 9th to December 2nd, 2023. The festival program includes six nature-themed concerts.

]]> The Jussi candidates for the films of 2021 were chosen at the meeting of Filmiaura’s expert council. Teemu Liakka, the cinematographer of Tale of the Sleeping Giants, has been nominated as a Jussi nominee for best cinematography. The nomination came from a film shot in Lapland and the Arctic Ocean over two years. The Jussi candidates are selected annually by an expert jury consisting of professionals, together with Filmiaura’s board. The jury included the following professionals in the film industry: producer Kaarle Aho, director Ulla Heikkilä, screenwriter Jenni Toivoniemi, actors Jaana Saarinen and Amir Escandari, cinematographer Arsen Sarkisiants, editor Samu Heikkilä, composer Samuli Putro, costume designer Jouni Mervas, set designer Markus Packalén, sound designer Mikko Mäkelä, makeup designer Kata Launonen and film distributor Harry Päiväläinen. From Filmiaura’s board, the council included: Riina Liukkonen, Minna Lampolahti, Manna Katajisto, Lauri Nurkse and Hannele Marjavaara.

The Jussi gala will take place on Friday, May 6, 2022 in the Helsinki Cable Factory Merikaapelihalli.
